Red Crescent Winds Up Summer Courses
The Yemen Red Crescent Society organized last Saturday a ceremony in honor of students participating in the First Aid training courses during the summer vacation. Chairman of Sana’a Red Crescent Society, Dr. Abbas Zabarah, emphasized the society’s commitment to let youths exploit their leisure time properly. This coincides with graduation of the fourth batch of motherhood course after being trained on first aid and delivery health. On the other hand, the Al-Zahraa society graduated 17 students after being trained on first aid.
During the ceremony students who volunteered to distribute dates donated from the main center of the society to the poor families and trainers were also honored.
The event was attended by Dr. Abdullah Al-Khamees, chairman of the Red Crescent Society and Rashidah Al-Asadi, Secretary General of Sana’a Red Crescent Society and a number of members.

Yemeni National Team Takes a Pounding against Uzbek Counterpart
Within the 32-Asia Youths Qualifications held in al-Taif, the Yemeni national football team lost to his Uzbek counterpart 2\3. At the first 15 minutes of the match, the Uzbek team exercised pressure on the Yemeni team and scored two goals. However, our team managed to pull together to bring their team a draw. The two goals were scored by Ibrahim al-Kuhali and Radhwan Abduljabar. Our players missed many chances to win the match.
However, at the end of the second half the Uzbek team scored a goal to win the match.
Al-Qadhi Head of The Yemeni Football General Association

I will make every effort to cooperate with members of the association to improve the game in our country and give every club its due attention, said Mohammed Abdullah Al-Qadhi after he won the election of the football Association over his only rival Ali Al-Ashwal, ex-chairman of the association.
The election was inaugurated last Tuesday in the Youths Palace by Minister of youths and sports, Dr. Abdul Wahab Raweh in the presence of Dr. Al-Shoaibi, Minister of Education, some MPs and 215 representatives of Yemeni clubs.
Result was announced after midnight with Al-Qadhi, nominee of Ahli Sana’a, having won 148 votes against Ali Al-Ashwal, nominee of Wahdah Sana’a, having only 63 votes.
Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Qadhi was born in 1968. He graduated from the USA with MA in management. Presently he is the chairman of board of directors of the Yemen Drug Company besides being chairman of Ahli Sana’a club.
In his program, Al-Qadhi promised to create a clear sports strategy, develop the association contacts with its bureaux across the country and with the Arab sports associations, support football teams in their transportation, qualify coaches and referees, encourage the countryside clubs, develop relations with the Ministry of youths and sports and Yemen Olympic Committee to develop the game, exploit donations and training programs offered by international associations.
On the other hand, the following have been elected members of the association:

- Ali Mothana Razeh (145 votes)
- Hafedh Fakher Miad (138 votes)
- Ibraheem Al-Hobaishi (125 votes)
- Khaled Al-Nadheri (102 votes)

- Abdul Kareem Annas (95 votes)
Table Tennis Team Flies to Syria
The national junior team for table tennis has left Yemen for Syria to take part in the 17th Arab Championship scheduled on August 21-31 2000. The team comprises:
- Mohammed Al-Hashidi
- Yasser Al-Sabahi
- Wail Al-Qirshi
- Ahmad Al-Matari
- Ahmad Al-Hashidi
- Hussam Saif
The administrative board includes Ali Taha, technical supervisor in the Table Tennis General Association and umpire Nabil Zoqari.
The Yemeni team has already undergone a training camp in China and is planned to undergo another one in Damascus before the beginning of the Championship.
Locally, Ahli Sana’a was able to place itself top in the Republic Championship in both the singles and the doubles championships last week. Mohammed Al-Hashidi and Yasser Al-Sabahi from Ahli Sana’a held the first two positions followed by Wail Al-Qirshi of Wahdah Sana’a, and last year champion in the third place.
