2nd Conference for Gas & Oil to be held [Archives:2002/23/Business & Economy]

Boosting investment and oil production is the aim of the 2nd Conference for Gas and Oil in Yemen, to be held June 25 in Yemen.
A number of papers on oil discovery and production are to be discussed during the conference which is being organized by the Ministry of Oil and Minerals in collaboration with the ABC Gulf Conference.
The conference also deals with investment opportunities in different oil sectors in Yemen.
More than 30 open oil sectors are expected to be offered to investors during the conference.
Yemen previously organized the 1st Conference for Oil and Gas in 1998 and came out with positive results, including the increase of oil companies working in the oil sectors: 24 oil companies working 37 oil sectors. Of those, seven are productive oil sectors and 30 are exploratory oil sectors.
Different oil companies will participate in the conference, such as, Total, Hunt, and the Yemeni Oil companies.
A liquefied gas plant is to be established by those companies, with capacity will reaching of 5.3 million tons. The overall cost of the project is US $5 million.
Oil agreements with India, China, and Japan have been made by the government to market its gas to such countries.
The government also intends to market gas in the local markets despite the reduction of prices.
