2nd Stage of Basketball Tournament Begins [Archives:1997/42/Sports]

The 2nd stage competitions of the Republic’s basketball tournament has started on Saturday October 18th with matches between the Ahli and Shaab of Sanaa in Sanaa, and between Minaa and Wahda in Aden. The 1st stage was concluded with two matches in Sanaa and Aden. In the last match in Sanaa, the Zohra Club defeated the Shaab of Sanaa 49-41, keeping its lead with 15 points. In Aden, on the other hand, the Minaa Club defeated Shamsan 69-44, also gaining 15 points and running neck and neck with the Zohra Club. On another level, the Yemeni Football Association has stipulated that all players, must hold a card issued by the Association to be able to participate. It also stipulated that a team playing away from home must reduce its players to 10 only.
