5 Fishermen Killed & 9 Injured [Archives:2002/02/Local News]
Five fishermen were killed and nine were injured when a Thai fishing ship crashed into a fishing boat at a distance of 7 miles offshore Aden Harbor and 70 miles deep in Yakteen area, Abyan governorate on January 4, 2002.
Early information mentions that 8 of the injured who were taken to hospital left on Saturday morning except one case that was still at the emergency department in the Aden General Hospital. Rescue teams continued their search for other three dead bodies.
The Thai ship sailed from the Mukalla port towards Aden for maintenance. The fishermen in the boat were asleep at the time of the incident.
