With the President’s Support, Aref is Coming Back [Archives:1998/03/Sports]

Aref Al-Shawafi is a distinguished sports journalist, who wrote a lot about sports activities and problems. He was inflicted with a serious liver disease the treatment of which requires exorbitant expenses, especially that Aref alone could not afford it. His sportsmen friends and the Minister of Youth and Sports urged benevolent people to support him in order to regain his health. Many people responded but what they gave was not enough to cover treatment expenses. The President, Marshal Ali Abdullah Saleh made a kind gesture towards Aref Al-Shawafi by taking it upon himself to provide the medical treatment expenses in a specialized hospital outside Yemen. Yemen Times wishes Aref Al-Shawafi a speedy recovery.
