Minister of Health Clarifies [Archives:1998/05/Local News]

The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Abdullah Abdulwali Nasher has indicated that improvements in the health services have reflected themselves into an improvement in health statistics. He cited the following data as examples.
Infant mortality now stands at 83 for every 1000 live births; while, maternal (mother) mortality is 10 per 1,000. Although children immunization had dropped from 85-90% coverage in the 1980s to 20-30% coverage in 1990s; over the last six months, coverage went up to 50-60%.
