President’s Japan Trip Plan Finalized [Archives:1999/08/Front Page]

A Japanese official from Tokyo arrives in Sanaa tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23rd, to discuss the final program of President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s March 14-17 state visit to Japan. This is the first trip by a Yemeni head of state to Japan. President Saleh will meet with HM Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Kaizo Obuchi, and other senior officials.
On his way to Tokyo, the President and the accompanying delegation will stop over for re-fuelling in Bangkok. They will return to Sanaa, via Mukalla, after re-fuelling in Singapore. “The purpose of the visit is to express gratitude for Japan’s contribution to Yemen’s development, and to work for continued cooperation,” the president said.
