
Djibouti’s President Concludes a Successful Visit to Yemen [Archives:2000/03/Front Page]

Both presidents of Yemen Ali Abdulla Saleh and of Djibouti Ismael Omer Jeila held a closed- door meeting in which they discussed fraternal relations and ways of enhancing and developing areas of cooperation in realization of both countries joint interests.
The two presidents had also reviewed developments in the African Horn region and reconciliation efforts in Somalia. The meeting also discussed the Arab situation and coordinating efforts of the two countries for strengthening Arab solidarity and for speeding up holding the Arab summit, called Yemen and a number of Arab countries.
The two presidents had also reviewed many of regional and international developments of common interest, mainly the peace process in the region in the light of resumption of negotiations between Syria and Israel. Presidents Saleh and Jeila had later on Saturday chaired both countries delegations in another round of official talks where they discussed fraternal relations and areas of joint cooperation and ways of developing and cementing them in the light of what had been discussed and agreed upon. They also discussed protocols in meetings of the joint supreme commission for economic, technical, cultural, scientific and information fields in addition to training in the manner achieving the common interests and enhancement of partnership between both countries and peoples.
There was also a review and exchange of viewpoints on regional and international developments mainly the situations in the African Horn, reconciliation in Somalia, Arab solidarity, developments of the peace process in the region and many international developments of common interest.
