The Post & Postal Savings Corporation, in its annual program, has issued five new groups of stamps and postcards that include:
1-Solidarity with the Palestinian people (Palestinian Intifadah).
This issuance comes as a contribution by our country to support the Intifadah and in expression of solidarity with the people of Palestine. Denominations of these stamps are of 30 rials and 60 rials. The postcard denomination is of 90 rials. The stamps depict the picture of the child martyr Mohammed al-Durra and the child martyr Eman Hajjo.
2-Yemeni Prominent Scholars and Intellectuals:
Yemen prides over the history that it has begotten a lot of scholars and prominent figures who had enriched the scientific and intellectual life.
3-Yemeni Antiquities:
A new special release issue dedicated to Yemen antiquities. This selected collection represents some of the most beautiful art objects of ancient Yemen civilization. The pre-Islamic Yemen kingdoms left a wealth of magnificent art works.
4-World Cup-Korea and Japan 2002:
The final tournaments of the soccer World Cup held their 17th sessions in both south Korea and Japan from May 31st till June 30th, 2002 with participation of 32 countries, 2 Arab countries participated (Tunisia &Saudi Arabia) who had been qualified following the preliminary selection matches played up by national teams in the five countries that had stretched over a period of one year and half.
To perpetuate that great international event, the Yemeni Post issues a commemorative series of four postage stamps, a perforated souvenir sheet and post card.
5-Diamond Jubilee of Yemen Boy Scouts 1927-2002:
The Scout movement was established in Yemen in 1927 in Aden during the British Occupation of South Yemen.
In 2002, it was celebrated on the occasion of the elapse of 75 years (Diamond Jubilee) since the beginning of the Yemeni scouts movement
