Unidentified gunmen had on Friday before last attacked Hamadan village, 10km to the North-west of Sana’a. The attackers used hand grenades and guns which resulted in killing murdering of a 2-year baby and caused damage to a number of cars belonging to the tribe’s chief of Headman shattering windows of nearby houses.
Security forces in the region had arrested one of the suspects who had confessed of participating in the attack with some other persons who were known later by the authorities but are still at large. Yemen Times met with many tribal leaders, one of them Fuad Saleh Al Faqih, father of the murdered baby ( Naïf) who said” The criminals have killed my child with a shot in his head while sleeping in his mother’s lap at 3 a.m. We do not expect that a Muslim can do such immoral crime which caused terror and anger among people specially at this hour of the day.”

In the absence of the morals and good values, the tribal laws and traditions are no longer respected by tribesmen, leading to revenge acts and violations. The tribesman, in the past, was of a good morals which cannot be found in big civilized cities. He used to live safely, even in time of war there were some traditions which no one could leave behind. What happened in Hamadan is distorting the tribal image and paving the way for more revenge acts as the father of the murdered child will not keep hand folded if the authorities did not act to put and end for such crimes.
