Afeef Cultural Establishment honors Abdulbasit Absi [Archives:2004/700/Culture]

In a reception held at its premises in Sanaa, the Afeef Cultural Establishment honored prominent singer Abdulbasit Absi for his role in promoting the traditional Yemeni song throughout the years.
The honoring ceremony came to conclude the establishment's 2003 activities, and to mark the long list of achievements of Absi for the Yemeni song locally and internationally.
Among those who attended the ceremony were many famous singers, including Ayoub Tarish Absi, Abdulrahman Al-Akhfash, and Mustafa Al-Haj.
In the concluding ceremony, the establishment's chairman and founder Mr. Ahmed Jaber Afeef gave a statement in which he emphasized the role Absi had played to publicize the Yemeni song and was later presented with the medal of appreciation and the establishment's shield.
It is worth noting that the Afeef Cultural establishment will be inaugurating next Tuesday the activities program for 2004 under the title “Culture between understanding and practice”. The inauguration ceremony will present the activities planned to be organized in year 2004, their dates and venues.
