A memorial for the Spanish victims [Archives:2007/1067/Front Page]

MARIB, July 11 ) Governor of Marib Arif Al-Zouki confirmed that the governorate would construct a memorial for the victims of the terrorism attack on the seventh of July. He made that statement during a rally by anti-terrorism activists, civil society, political activists and members of the public in Marib governorate, last week.

Minister of tourism Nabil Al-Faqih, who attended the rally, indicated that the travel agency which arranged the travel package did not complete its licensing process, and therefore the agency should have not been involved in such tourism activities prior to fully obtaining the needed licenses and permits to do that. He also added that his ministry would coordinate with other government agencies in order to train the tourism police who will accompany such delegations in the future, to increase their alert levels and ensure higher levels of security for tourists.

Independent news website Marebpress.net stated that police reports indicated there were two suicide bombes on board the vehicle which crashed into the convoy, and that the passenger of that vehicle threw hand grenades and opened fire from his machine gun on the first car to spark panic among the drivers who worried about the gunshots, and could not attempt to avoid the vehicle charging into the convoy.

Al-Ahali private newspaper published a statement by Nasir Al-Bahri also known as Abu Jandal who used to be a personal aid to bin laden in Afghanistan during the years 1997-2000, the statement indicated that there is a new generation of extremists who are have a far more extreme agenda. He states: “the new generation are the Iraq-generation, they are young men who went to Iraq and learnt nothing of the principles of Jihadist work, but were filled up by wrongful notions and ill guidance”.. Al-Bahri also indicated that the Marib attack was not the work of Al-Qaeda but they are foreign elements and persons seeking to profit from terrorism.
