Ms. Jules Kim, the Political and Economic Attache at the US Embassy in Sana'a, during her visit to Taiz City, met with the Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate.
In a reconnaissance visit to Taiz Republican Hospital, she met with Dr. Abdulsalam Mohamed Al-Ghurasy, Director of the Hospital and with a number of medical and health staff who informed her of the progress of work at internal clinics and the level of health and medical services the hospital provides.
Ms. Kim said that her visit to Taiz was to get an idea of commercial and economic activities in the city and to discuss with the Mayor of Taiz aspects of cooperation and what primary services the governorate needs.
Ms. Kim expressed her pleasure at the visit, which has enabled her to examine closely the good health services provided by the hospital. She cited that the work was going very well at the hospital, especially with regard to the renovation process. She expressed her comfort at the level of the performance of the hospital. She alluded to the cooperation of the US embassy with the hospital's administration through presenting training courses within the framework of the US program to train officials in the Middle East, MEET.U.S.
The training course was held in the US and Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Ghurasy participated in it. This type of cooperation is an example of good cooperation between the embassy and hospital aiming at providing the trainees with the needed knowledge to work in hospitals.
Ms. Kim said that the gathered information, related to the needs and demands at the hospital, would be discussed with the embassy's staff in order to determine the possibility of support and assistance, which would be presented through local officials in the governorate.
Dr. Al-Ghurasy, on his part, stated that he valued the US support in the field of rehabilitating the medical cadre and expressed his hope for the development of this cooperation to build the mechanism to modernize the medical equipment available, particularly the prognosis apparatuses.
