Abu Ras Withdraws His Resignation [Archives:2001/25/Front Page]

Minister of the Local Administration, Mr. Sadiq Abu Ras has withdrawn his resignation submitted last Thursday. The resignation was said to be triggered by the non-implementation of part of the Local Authority Law.
In a press statement, Abu Ras said that his decision followed a phone call from the President directing him to resume his duties.
On the day following the resignation, Abu Ras met with Prime Minister, Mr. Bajammal and discussed reasons for his resignation, chief among which was postponing transfer of the financial dues to local councils.
Mr. Abu Ras expressed his dismay at the delay in implementation of the law which was passed three months ago.
