Aden Trading Corporation Building Taken Over [Archives:2000/19/Local News]

The General Corporation for Fabrics and electric equipment building was taken over last week by the Foreign Ministry branch of Aden and fate of about 700 employees has become unknown. In response to that, the corporation’s employees sent a petition letter to President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Trade demanding the restoration of their corporation building. Staff was shocked to find that all documents and files related to the Corporation had been thrown into one room while the other rooms were occupied by staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aden, according to directives from Aden governor, as reported in the complaint. The corporation was founded in 1982 and it employs 700 people who have appealed to opposition parties and civil organizations to stop what they described as a step against the law.
