Al-Iryani accused [Archives:2000/19/Local News]

Sheikh Abdullah Ben Hussein Al-Ahmar, Speaker of Parliament accused the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Iryani of working to please America at the expense of the dignity of Yemen. In an interview with Al-Moshahid Al-Syasi Magazine, Sheikh Al-Ahmar said that Al-Iryani spoke only about his own opinion in regard to Yemeni-Saudi border dispute. “He is pessimistic,” he added.
He added that the reason behind the delay of reaching a settlement on the border dispute was nothing more than tribal disputes over the areas situated on the western and northern borders. “The tribes on the Yemeni-Saudi borders are intermingled with each other, causing this delay,” he commented.
Concerning democracy and tribe, Al-Ahmar said that tribe is superior than everything except religion.
