Al-Shoura Editor in Court [Archives:1999/19/Local News]
May 10 1999
The chief editor of Al-Shoura newspaper, Noman Kaied Saif, said he was given false information by the Press Prosecutor. He was told to report for a court session on Sunday, May 9th, at the South-west Sanaa primary Court. The judge was not aware of the case, but once informed, he re-scheduled the case for 11th May.
The editor is asked to account for a story about the YR 150 million which the paper said was the amount spent on car purchases by the president. The article lamented the purchase of new cars, at a time when the president said he was fighting corruption and mismanagement.
