A group of unknown people in a speedy car threw a grenade at the head office of the Baath party in Sanaa at 8.30 p.m. last Saturday.
This incident comes a day after the party held its third general conference.
No casualties have been reported.
There has been news of splits inside the party caused by calls for replacing the partys current secretary-general, Dr. Abdulwahab Mahmoud with Abdulhafedh Numan, who has recently come back to Yemen from Syria.
A source at the party said differences between Mahmoud and some of the partys leaders like Mohammed Abdullah al-Kibsi were likely to be behind the formers absence from the partys conference.
It seems there has been an agreement between leaders of the party in Yemen and Syria to remove Mahmoud from his post, the same source added.
The Baath Party started its political activities in Aden during the 1950s.
