Athletics Federation Program of 1998: Will Hopes & aspirations Be Realized? [Archives:1998/08/Sports]

After various activities organized by the Yemeni Athletics Federation of 1997, future events such as training courses, competitions and championships can be sponsored by the private sector. The Athletics Federation gave no attention to the little financing by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Athletics Federation has taken into consideration, when making the 1998 plan, that athletics amateurs should be given more opportunities to practice and compete. Also, the plan takes into consideration the participation of Yemeni athletes in Arab championships in order to benefit from the international expertise in the field of athletics.

The Federation approved 4 training courses. The first begins in March for the second level, the second in May for coaches, the third in June for referees, and the fourth in August which is for school athletics activities. The Federation also approved 12 different championships and approved the participation in the Asian and Arab athletics championships. Mr. Ahmed Al-Sayani, the Federation secretary, told Yemen Times in an exclusive interview, “This year’s program is full of the Yemeni Athletics Federation aspirations to develop athletics, especially that we are getting more attention by the government.”
