Baggash Sentenced to a 20-year Imprisonment [Archives:2000/27/Local News]

The primary court in the Capital Secretariat yesterday a sentence ruling the imprisonment for 20 years of Faisal Ahmed Baggash.
Faisal Baggash, 25, was accused for kidnapping foreigners several times as a means of pressurizing the government to release his imprisoned brother.
Baggash kidnapped tourist Steve Carter in December 1999, and transported him to Barat area where he was kept for one month. He also kidnapped 2 more tourists from the UK and the Netherlands at gun point, whom he held for 18 days.
The court has also granted him the right to appeal the sentence, which he is expected to take advantage of.
