Bahrain is preparing for a different summer this year. A 2-month event has never been seen in the Gulf region. Bahrain Summer 2002 will feature a mix of the traditional and futuristic venues in the Kingdom, some of which will draw on scientific and artistic interests, while others will appeal to visitors taste for shopping entertainment.
We are looking towards making Bahrain Summer one of the most entertaining and memorable times for visitor, said Jamal al-Hazeem, Chief Executive Officer of the Economical Development Board.
There will be something for everyone and particularly those living in the Gulf Cooperation Council, to come here to enjoy themselves so much that they will visit Bahrain to enjoy future events, Mr. al-Hazeem added.
The Director of Immigration is taking action in facilitating the visa procedures for foreign visitors during the Bahrain Summer attractions.
A form shall be designed to help families from all nationalities coming to Bahrain Summer enter the country with fewer formalities. A special counter for Bahrain Summer visitors will be set up at the Airport and the causeway that will process and approve visas for families coming to Bahrain. The forms will be available at airlines and travel agents offices both in Bahrain and internationally. There are no requirements for family visitors and a visa will be granted immediately. Civil Aviation have agreed to train Bahrain University and school students to provide help and ease the inflow of visitors.
Bab al-Bahrain has been chosen to launch this event as it symbolizes Bahrains cultural heritage and history. The launch celebrations include:
1-A pyrotechnic show.
2- A dramatic fireworks display.
3-Music
4- Mahboob; a lovely dolphin mascot.
5- Scheduled events include Seasame Street live, Bear in the Big Blue house Live Fairy Tales Magic, Toys land and illusion shows.
6- Race Zone, Space Park and the
al-Bahrain Experience.
7- Shopping extravaganzas and float parades.
All events are planned to be indoors, making the experience a comfortable and a pleasure tone.
