Bomb diffused in a busy street in Taiz [Archives:2004/739/Local News]

Tuesday 11 May 2004, Taiz- Security sources have confirmed that an expert from the Criminal Investigation Bureau in Taiz Governorate was able to diffuse a timed bomb found on the back tire of a Toyota parked on Jamal Street, only few minutes before it would have gone off.
The bomb, if exploded, would have led to a high number of casualties and material losses since the car, belonging to a Yemeni expatriate working in Saudi, was parked in a busy and crowded street. The owner of the car said that he could not think of anyone who would want to blow up his car. This leaves only that the perpetrator was seeking to disturb the peace of mind, security and stability of Yemen.
Yemen Times has learned that the security forces are pursuing the elements behind the timed bomb.
