Cabinet shuts down private medical colleges [Archives:2005/841/Local News]
SANA'A- In its meeting held Tuesday May 10, the Cabinet issued a number of decisions with the aim to rectify situations of private universities. The decisions followed directives issued earlier by the Supreme Council for Universities and the Supreme Council for Education Planning.
With respect to restructuring the private universities, the decisions included the closure of faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacology and laboratories in all the private universities, except the University of Science and Technology, for not meeting the operated standards.
The Cabinet approved the continuity of the ongoing diploma programs (pharmacology, dentistry, laboratories and nursery) at the main compasses of private universities.
