Dr. Ali Mansour bin Saffa', the Minister of Technical, Education & Vocational Training has emphasized that the Ministry has received a loan of 50 millions US dollars from the Saudi Development Fund to establish 19 technical institutes in different governorates of the Republic. This is in addition to 16 institutes financed by the government. This comes along side a further loan from the European Union for the establishment of a specialist institute for tourism in Sana'a. As well these the European Union continue its supporting for women who study in the gas and petroleum sector.
In a message to the Yemen Times, Dr bin Saffa' indicated that the establishment of vocation and technical institutes in different governorates will strengthen the institutes roles. With emphasis being made on training in sectors that are required in the local labor market.
He added that the decision taken by the Ministers' cabinet regarding the society/community was correct taking into consideration that the community college is basically tied to the market. Thus, the Ministry has placed a plan for the national strategy of technical education & vocational training which includes current infrastructure development for the technical education, at all levels; as per the new tendency towards the strategy and the functioning of the institutes which are still in the course of preparation. There are currently 35 institutes which will place their syllabuses and training programs in line with the needs of labor market in terms specialization, which will aid in the development operation and efforts to alleviate unemployment and poverty that is present in many areas.
