Aden Second Cisterns Festival
Preparations are underway to hold Aden’s Second Cisterns Festival, which is due October in Aden. The idea for holding such a festival was originated by the ex-minister of culture Mr. Yahya al-Arashi and was held for the first time in 1995.
Many musical and folkloric bands are due to take part in those festivities. The festival will include theatrical performances, songs, poetic recitation and plastic art exhibitions.
Musical Lecture at the French Cultural Center in Sana’a
An Arabic-French lecture on folkloric songs documentation was held at the French Cultural Center in Sana’a. The lecture was given by Ali Abu al-Rijal Director of the National Documentation Center and Jean Lemiere on behalf of the Paris-based Museum of Human History.
Hadramaut Musical Band Takes Part in Salalah Festival
The Musical Band of the Cultural Center is to participate at the festivities of al-Hudhaif Festival to be held in the City of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman during 25-31 August 2001. It is expected that the band will leave for Oman next week.
Kuwaiti Cultural Week
Preparations are underway to hold the Kuwaiti cultural week in Sana’a. The festival will include a number of cultural and artistic events to be performed by some Yemeni and Kuwaiti artists.
New Archeological Magazine Published
Edition number zero of the Sana’a-based al-Musnad magazine was published. This magazine is concerned with matters related to folklore, antiques and history.
Al-Musnad magazine is the first of its kind in Yemen and has included excerpts of a number of specialized studies, researches and books. Some of the most distinguished writers in this issue are Dr. Yussof Abdullah, Dr. Abdu Othman and many others.
