The Danish Mission to support the Yemeni media has concluded its visit to Yemen and left the country yesterday, Wednesday, after holding a handful of sessions and meetings with various stakeholders in the media sector. Their visit was concluded with a comprehensive meeting on Wednesday morning with all stakeholders in the media including editors, journalists, publishers, writers, intellects, donors, and many others.
The visit was concluded with an emphasis on the need to work closely with members of the media to raise the standards and strengthen the role of journalists in comprehensive development for Yemen.
The head of the mission, Mr. Jorgen Ringgaard expressed his delight at the enthusiasm and interest demonstrated by the Yemeni members of the media. “Such enthusiasm and ambition only adds to our confidence in our decision to take over the mission to help Yemen's media. The potential is great and I believe donors will realize that their role in this regard will be significant for Yemen's development.” he said.

Good indications
From the first few days of their visit to Yemen, members of the Danish mission held several sessions with different groups of media-related individuals. The overall assessment of the sessions was positive as the mission was able to get a clear picture of the situation of the media in the country and has come to know the main obstacles and outlined the priorities.
The topics of the sessions focused on six points resembled in: Access to information, freedom of the media, training, enhancing media educational departments and institutes, promoting professional and independent reporting and supporting the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate.
It is worth mentioning that the mission is expected to return in October of this year for another visit to draw clearer lines and start strategic projects in the next phase.
