Development of innovators skills for economic leadership [Archives:2003/656/Business & Economy]

The Yemeni government intends to follow a new scientific policy for developing skills of innovators and supporting the youth's mental aptitudes and to work for the protection of their intellectual rights. The government also plans to affect a kind of competition spirit among them in order to promote the situations of the society and keep pace with developments taking place in technological, communications fields and the trade of information and services.
Despite that the Yemeni environment and the living conditions of the population do not help encourage creative works the government of Prime Minister Abdulqader Bajammal seems to be determined to render care for the gifted persons and offer necessary support to them. The system of the new scientific policy includes offering support to centers of scientific research, development of educational curricula, adopt and take care of innovators and support them in their innovations, media awareness for the youth for giving attention to the time factor and investing it at the technical and vocational training institutes and other relevant facilities.
One of the centres the government has built for this purpose is a centre for qualifying the creative. The centre adopts the talented youth's projects in the field of communication and information technology. The first batch of graduates in this field has been lately celebrated by the centre. The Yemeni government wants the young innovators contribute to meeting the needs of official scientific institutions and bodies and private sector companies for computer scientific programs in service of development trends and development of partnership of the state and the society at all levels.
The first batch of those graduated from the Centre for Innovators Development have been specialized in distance education, and control of electronic and electrical apparatuses through computers and the internet.
Among the accomplished creative works, the student Khalid Sulaiman al-Na'mi has scored a success in building a project on distance education that would provide opportunity for educational sides to utilize the internet as an educational tool and means for communicating knowledge to the largest number of people and in Arabic language. This system of distance education operates the educational process by offering educational materials, conducting examinations and following up and assessing the level of recipient students' comprehension of educational lessons across the internet.
Student Tahir Hussein Yahya called his creative project ''Remote Control System'' related operating electric system networks, especially those built at far and separated places or in places difficult to reach. The systems enables security bodies to control a large number of security gates and to sense any inroad or electric failure of power carrying wires.
Student Sami Abda al-Shawafi has worked out another project he called '' Unified Network System for Communications'', the essential idea of which is based on checking communication network of beneficiary firms, be they official institutions or private companies and to be certain of its quality and normal work. According to its creator the system uses the technology of internet protocol in a speedy manner and less cost. As for the student Mohammed al-Maqrami he has worked out a control system used for all kinds of equipment, operation and topping, using the simplest means of electronic control in offices, houses, trading shops, services and industrial installations at a lower cost compared to similar foreign systems.
Against all these innovations the government no other alternative but to adopt works of the innovators and recognise their knowledge asset for attaining an information society, utilizing the youth creative energies for development productive performance and improvement of economic situations and upgrade the level of services sector.
Therefore the government has launched its great project for expanding the use of internet and put among its priorities program the youth sector for leading and steering the change in the society as well as taking part in building the economy based on knowledge and ending all elements of backwardness.
