Dr. Burrowes warns of collapse [Archives:2008/1125/Front Page]

In an article written for Yemen Times and titled “The Salih Regime and the Need for Reform,” the American political scientist Dr. Robert Burrowes warns Yemenis and international community of the danger of economic and societal collapse in Yemen. Burrowes, who is known among Yemenis as sheik Bob, thinks “[t]he regime of President Ali Abdullah Salih has demonstrated clearly since the mid-1990s that it lacked the will and capacity to adopt the major economic and political reforms needed” to create “enough jobs and income.” The results, according to Burrowes, have been “alarming levels of unemployment, poverty and malnutrition.” Read full article in page three.
