Eco-tourism in Yemen needs protection [Archives:2002/25/Health]

Preserving environment means preserving our life. Yemen in this respect has made changes with regard to establishing the Environment Protection Authority. This significant body is entrusted with disseminating awareness among the public to be aware of destruction their environment. Yemen today has witnessing radical human changes as well as activities in agriculture, industry and trade resulting in positive and negative impacts on environment.
Man is the reaper of his own actions and he is the one either to enjoy or suffer. A matter of fact, this issue has attracted a great deal of concern by many bodies all over Yemen.
This is directly reflected in different conferences and summits held in many countries in which the protection of environment was the heart of their discussions.

Eco-Tourism
It is true that tourism and environment are two sides of the same coin. They are of prime importance to countries development and advancement, specially in this era of globalization.
Many countries are widely aware of the potentiality of this industry therefore they spend fortunes to make use of this in developing their economy. It is as valuable than oil.
To enhance mechanism of joint regional cooperation in the field of environmental tourism, promoting Arab tourism awareness there should be some strategies drawn out to conduct tourist campaigns The development of a eco-tourism should be launched in a diversified media means including the public relations bodies, tourism propaganda, ads, posters, pictures, drawings. Tourism exhibitions should also be held to imbue these ideas in the minds of people.
Tourism in Yemen is entirely depends on the natural resource, the cultural heritage, historical sites, architecture, and beaches.
Socotra in this respect represents a real living museum. It is a nature with all its beauty, wonders, mystery and attraction calling tourists, specialists, scientists and nature seekers to come to the island of wonders, Socotra one of the most amazing and adventurous resorts in the world. It is a living natural museum for all those who evince an abiding in nature.
Thus, there should be a plan to conduct tourist marketing which will include realizing the desires of the foreign tourists and reasons behind their preference to visit foreign countries.
We conclude that preserving environment can play an active role in the promotion of eco-tourism in our country and our Arab land. They can enhance the awareness of the society through providing the people with new techniques, imbuing the desire to change and aspire their hopes for a bright future to make handsome revenues benefiting the regional national economy.
