Customs Staff Trained in Jordan
The Yemeni Customs Authority is currently studying Jordan’s experience in the field of fighting smuggling and space control and monitoring of customs centers. In this regards, a Yemeni delegation made a visit to Amman in which they talked about training Yemeni employees in Jordan, an initiative that was welcomed by the Jordanian side. It is worth mentioning that Yemen international airport has already launched intentional system for customs procedures. Three other airports and seaports will have the same system in the near future.
Plan to Revive Tourism
Financed by the EU, a plan is being made by the ministry of Tourism to attract more than 500,000 tourists by 2005 in an attempt to activate the tourism sector.
The attacks against New York and Washington have badly affected tourism in Yemen. The loss has been estimated at USD 200 million.
IBD delegation visits Yemen
A delegation from the Islamic Bank for Development in Jeddah is currently visiting Yemen to asses work in development projects financed by the Bank. The delegation will also be discussing the possibility of financing other development projects.
The Islamic bank for Development has recently donated USD 6 million for the Social Fund for Development to help solve unemployment problems.
344 new Projects Launched
On the 39th anniversary of the Yemeni revolution, 344 new projects totaling 17 billion rials have been launched. thirteen of these projects are located in the Capital Secretariat at the coast of 2.7 billion rials. some of these projects are contributed by the private sector, specially in the education, electricity and health domains.
