Environment projects to be implemented in Yemen [Archives:2006/989/Local News]

SANA'A, Oct 14 ) The World Environment and UN Development Program is reviewing the work of environmental projects and programs implemented in Yemen.

Minister of Water and Environment, Adbul-Karim Fadhl Al-Eryani, met with Tim Clars, coordinator UN environment projects.

The World Environment Utility, which is part of the projects, offers support for Socotra Conservation and Development Program and other projects.

For his part, Al-Eryani thanked the donor organizations supporting Yemen for achieving constant development. He confirmed his ministry is keen to enhance the cooperation between Yemen and donor organizations.

The visit of Clars falls within the frame of following up the achievement of projects on the part of donor organizations, according to Mohamoud Shediwa, chairman of Environment Conservation General Authority.

“During the meetings we discussed several suggestions and programs on environment, climate changes, bio-security as well as bio-diversity presented by Yemen to the donor organizations. Implementing such programs and projects will start from 2007 till 2010,” said Shediwa.
