Explosion sets ship ablaze [Archives:2002/33/Front Page]

Hodiedah, Aug 10, (YT)Fire continued raging till Friday evening in a ship anchored at Assaleef Harbor of Hodiedah port. Fire was caused by an explosion that took place in the ship at 8:30 p.m. last Thursday. The incident resulted in burning of two engineers of the ship whose bodies were found completely charred. While another five of the crewmen had received serious burns and were taken to Hodiedah Hospital for treatment.
Yemen Times has learned that the ship belongs to the Yemen Economic Corporation and that a technical failure has happened in the cooling system before the explosion. One of the ships engineers said that explosion took place while the cooling system under preparation by technicians of the ship.
