Failed Kidnapping Attempt [Archives:1999/45/Local News]

An armed group tried to kidnap Saturday the 6th of November 7 tourists; consisting of 3 men and 4 women, who were on the way to Sanaa.
Fortunately, the kidnapping attempt failed as a result of the tight security grip that lead to the escape of the kidnappers. The security forces are still in search of the tribesmen whose leader is said to be a well-known figure in the district. Furthermore, the sheik’s son was sentenced to death for killing six persons, two of whom were soldiers.
