The contributions of Dr. Eccel to Yemeni-American cultural relationship are countless. Besides his main position as the Cultural Attaché, Dr. Chris was also involved in the United States Information Service (USIS) programs, Yemeni-American Language Institute (YALI) academic services, academic and cultural exchanges, and working with the local press and the various programs of the embassy.
He was a hard working dedicated man, with a computer-oriented vision and broad knowledge in a wide range of fields and sectors.
Dr. Chris Eccel, who has extensive experience in Arab affairs, and speaks the language fluently, will be leaving to Algiers after spending the summer vacation in the USA.
“Whoever knows Dr. Chris Eccel, must realize how idealistic and professional he is in his work and relations. We will truly miss our Arabist who has on many occasions expressed his love and attachment to Arabic language and to Yemen.” Editor-in-chief, Walid Al-Saqqaf said.
As Yemen Times, we wish Dr. Chris Eccel all the best in his new career, thanking him for his close relationship with Yemen Times since the days of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqqaf, and thanking him for being the first newspaper to interview him after he had arrived in 1998. Hence, we would like to say a special “Farewell Dr. Chris…” to him.
