French Consul’s wife to Yemen Curie Lagal, 44, committed suicide last week, according to press report, which noted that the reasons for not announcing the death on time was for not knowing the reasons behind the suicide.
The source pointed out that Curie Lagal was working as secretary for the French Ambassador to Yemen, and that she committed suicide by a pistol at her house located in the diplomatic area in Sana’a.
The French Embassy in Sana’a refused to give any information about the incident.
This is the second time a Western diplomat has committed suicide in Yemen. On April 2000 British Consul Assistant committed suicide after being convicted with a financial scandal.
