Gas tankers transporting gas from Safir refineries in Mareb to Sana’a were forced to stop in Mareb because of security related reasons last Friday.
More than 200 gas tankers parked at road intersection leading to Jawf and Mareb, as drivers refused to move but after providing them with necessary security protection.
The suspension of tankers passage to main cities from Mareb has led to a critical shortage of gas supplies in Sana’a.
Gas and oil tankers passing through Mareb usually come under fire when tribesmen and authorities have differences.
The government has been unable to secure the passage of those tankers, which usually pass through rural and tribal areas in Mareb and Jawf governorates.
