German Cultural Attache Visits Youth Center [Archives:2004/752/Community]

As part of the support of the German embassy for non-governmental organizations in Yemen the German cultural attache, Dr. Tobias Tonkel, paid a visit on Tuesday to the National Youths Cultural Center in Taiz during which he met with Mr. Abdulla Sallam, the director, who informed the German attache of the activities of the center and services provided for unemployed youths to allow them to integrate into society through various forms of training in handicrafts and different occupations.
The German attache expressed his joy at what he had noticed of the good efforts being exerted at the center. He also visited the development center affiliated with the youth center, which was funded by the Japanese embassy and recently inaugurated by the ambassador of Japan.
A delegation from German GTZ headed by the chairman of the development of the private sector program paid a fact-finding visit to the project, focusing on programs the center is implementing for Yemeni youths of both genders.
