High American Officials attend the New National Mine Action Committee Compound [Archives:2000/07/Local News]

Admiral Charles W. Moore, Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces of the Central Command and Commander of the fifth fleet, arrived in Sana’a yesterday in a two-day visit in which he will attend the opening ceremony of the Dar Saad Training Center of the Yemeni Humanitarian Demining Program, at Dar Saad today. At another level Ambassador Edward S. Walker Jr., Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, accompanied by Rear Admiral J. Campbell from the U.S. Central Command, and Ambassador Ron Neumann, Deputy Assistant Secretary of state for Near Eastern Affairs, arrived in Yemen today on his first official visit to the region since his appointment to his current position on January 18. He will call on senior Yemeni officials to review areas of mutual concern, including the Middle East peace process, U.S,-Yemen relations, and the achievements of Yemen’s Humanitarian Demining Program. Visitors are expected to meet today at Dar Saad to attend the inauguration of the new National Mine Action Committee Compound.
