Hit-and-run attack on journalist [Archives:2003/653/Local News]

The Yemen Journalists Syndicate, Sana'a, Aden and Taiz branches, denounced the attack on a journalist by members from the security on July 19.
In a press release, the syndicate said that armed men attacked on July 19 journalist, Fahmi Abdulwahed, the sport supplement editor of the Taiz-based state-run al-Jumhuria Daily. It expressed its sorrow for what has taken place in a time in which the state has been calling for applying law and order. “We appeal to all the military, security and judiciary bodies to mobilize their efforts to catch culprits and return the snatched car to its owner” the statement mentioned Fahmi managed to escape from attackers but his car was taken by them.
Chairman of the Yemen Journalists Syndicate Mahboob Ali contacted interior minister, Dr. Rashad al-Alemi and appealed to put an end to such attacks and carry out an immediate investigation into the case, presenting the attackers to court. Dr. al-Alemi confirmed his will to track down the culprits and put an end to such incidents.
