Holy site, Unholy blood [Archives:2002/20/Focus]
COMMON SENSE
by Hassan Al-Haifi
It was appalling to see the coverage of the release of the Church of the Nativity from the evil siege of Zionist tanks. The more appalling element in all this was the rather cold treatment accorded to the continuous desecration of all things holy in the Holy Land by none other than the unholy terrorist Ariel Sharon.
Let us go back a little in time. When Jerusalem was liberated from the Byzantines in the 7th Century, the Fourth Caliph, or Successor, of the Prophet Mohammed (Peace of Allah be upon him) visited the city and was invited by the Patriarch of the Church of the Ascunsion in Jerusalem to pray in the Church, in gratitude for liberating them and for the tolerance and protection which the Moslems undertook of the Holy Places of both Christianity and Islam in Palestine.
The humble and dignified pious Caliph, may God rest his soul, gracefully thanked the Patriarch of Jerusalem for his invitation and politely excused himself to pray on the outside turf of the Church grounds. This was not because Omer did not consider it proper to pray in the Church, but in order to ensure that a precedent was not set for Moslem rulers to take over the houses of worship of non-Moslems and thus intervene in their freedom. For over 1,400 years, the protection of the holy places of Christianity has been continously assured by all Moslem leaders.
Durign the siege of the Church of the Nativity, Zionist propaganda was insiting that the Palestininans in the Church were holding the Church clerics and other staff hostages and were carrying out destruction and vandalism throughout their stay at the Church.
More than material damage
However, as the Eminent Church Patriarch was to tell the Al-Jazeera station after the siege: We should not simply ask as to what material damage was inflicted on the Church. Material damage can always be corrected. The worst thing that happened throughout the horrendous siege was the fact that human blood was spilled in the holiest of Christian Churches and eight lives were martyred (these were the Patriarchs words) at the Place where Jesus Christ was born. That to me is the greatest sacrilege I see in all of this.
CNNs Walter Rogers, who never hides his Zionist sympathies, and who obviously was sent to the region just at the right time to ensure that the other correspondents of CNN do not get carried away with describing the Zionist horrors recently unleashed in the Holy Land, never even took the liberty of asking the clerics at the Church of what they thought about the Zionsist siege. He knew full well that no God-fearing person could find the right words to describe the horror that behooves any person at the direspect for any religious sanctity, which the Zionists are unabashed to perpetrate.
Have we forgotten that a Zionist entered the Prophet Ibrahims Mosque and mercilessly killed 40 worshippers as they were kneeling on the ground in humility to God Al-Mighty at dawn during the Holy Month of Ramadhan? Have we forgotten the hundreds of churches and mosques that dotted the Holy Land, in the territory that is now Israel, which were left without any evidence to show their existence, some of which were hundreds of years old.
Now the world has seen how unholy the Zionist attitude is towards all religion. Even their own Sabbath is broken when it comes to killing Palestinian men, women and children without discrimination. It is clear now that as much as Walter Rogers tries to cover up the insanity of the Zionist incursion into Bethlehem, the Zionsits have once again displayed they are the adherents of the most unholy of dogmas and their chauvinism wreaks with the devils scent, no matter how sweet a protrayal of Zionist madness is given by Walter Rogers and the other Zionist stoooges in the Western press.
Out of all this madness, Islam once again proves that it has the finest record when it comes to tolerance of other God-fearing people of all religious persuasions.
