If only USA would not back Israel [Archives:2002/27/Focus]

I have not responded to the editorials of Yemen Times for some time. But I take this opportunity to comment on the state of the Palestinians who I believe deserve a land to call their own. I continue to feel great compassion and sadness for these people who are desperate and beyond hope. While I do not agree with their methods of attention, I believe that they were wronged by Israel for so many years. The bottom line is that Israel took their land in 1967, and it is time to give it back. The only reason that Israel has not been squashed like a bug is because of my country, i.e., USA that backs them 100%.
There are terrorists in every country of the world, including the USA. I dont believe that the Palestinians are terrorists. I believe that they are hurt, sad, worn, desperate and so disrespected that their dishonor has turned to hate and anger. I wish it never went this far. Believe me, my opinion of this situation is not very popular in my country, but I sincerely believe that they have been unjustly pushed to the limit by Israel; a country that still thinks should be compensated for the Holocaust, which they believe is still going on today. I am so sick to death about their persecution God, enough already.
Palestine is a country then and now. Just because Israel occupied its land, does not make the land Israeli property.
It is such an old and ancient story that the Jews have felt persecuted by everyone and they wonder why the world is beginning to backlash against them. My prayer will always be that Israel and Palestine will humble themselves, come together and learn to live in peace, if not for this generation, then for the next.
It would be honorable if the Jews would just honor the agreements that have been in place for months with Palestine, and just moved forward. But that will never happen until the USA stops backing Israel. Only then perhaps, will Israel have no one to lean on or hide behind and will finally begin to see all the destruction they have caused out of their ego and anger. Perhaps, they will then begin to really care about their children and will start creating a more peaceful and reasonable world for all.
Israel says we must defend ourselves so rather than give up land which never belonged to them in the first place, they again teach another generation they are also persecuted, and rather than do something constructive to resolve the alleged persecution, they have now taught Israeli children to hate, fight, kill, and be killed.
Shame on you Israel.
