A discussion session on eradicating illiteracy was held at the Aptech Institute Hall, Taiz, on Thursday, Sep. 16 2004. It was organized by the National Organization for Illiteracy in collaboration with Aptech. The session came in the frame of marking the World Literacy Day.
26 participants took part in the discussion among whom were academics, and other specialists in this problem. Dr. Abdullah Moh'd Saeed, from Taiz University, Mohammed Abdulwahed, Deputy General Director of Literacy and Adult Learning, Mesk Al-Junaid, Women Sector Official, and Yaser Al-Sagheer, a member of the Association, were amongst those who attended the session.
The Secretary General of the Organization, Ahmed Haza'a, stated that “the session is part of the series of activities organized on the occasion of the World Day for Illiteracy and Adult Learning” and that “the session is concerned with suggesting solutions and strategies for solving this problem through the joint and individual efforts.
The Office of the Organization in Taiz has issued a detailed report on 2003 and 2004 activities which targeted some 18436 persons.
