Unemployment on the rise
New statistics on unemployment in Yemen show that the number has increased from 336,000 in 1995 to more than half million in 2002. Graduates from basic-level school account for most of this number, almost four in five. Graduates from high school, university and Vocational and Technical school make up the balance.
Workshop coming up
Yemen is to host a workshop on how to prevent money laundering from 28 April to 20 May. The workshop will be organized by the Arab Banks Federation in cooperation with the Yemeni Banks Association. Many anti-money-laundering experts are to attend this workshop. Ways of preventing money laundry and containing the consequences of money illegal trade will be discussed.
Cabinet agrees on standards
Yemens cabinet agreed that the General Authority for Standards & Specifications is to adopt the same standards and specifications valid in the Gulf countries. It also allocated YR 200 million for purchasing new equipment for the Authority.
