Port of Aden more active
Yemen has exported YR 446,000,000 of industrial, agricultural and fish products by May 2002 through the port of Aden.
Yemen exports fish to Jordon
Yemen has opened the door for Jordanian investors to import fish products. The first shipment of 80 tons has been exported to the Port of Aqaba on the Red Sea. Another shipment of 120 tons is expected to be shipped soon.
Minister of Agriculture meets IFAD team
Yemen has taken part in the World Food Summit, recently held in Rome, Italy. On the sidelines, Ahmed Salim al-Jabali, Minister of Agriculture met some officials at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). They discussed the possibility of funds for rural development projects in Dhamar through IFAD.
New law on construction
For the first time, Yemen has passed a law on regulations for construction in cities. The law works towards putting an end to disputes among law-enforcement agencies and proprietors.
The law covers provisions for the construction of highways and streets as well as regulations concerning the demolition of buildings.
Trade zone
between Yemen & Iraq
A law to create a free trade zone between Yemen and Iraq has been endorsed. The proposed zone will increase trade between the two countries. It will also take away tax constrains. This agreement is a first step in creation an Arab trade zone.
