– Locals lash out at JMP

Feb. 20 ) Citizens in Dhamar governorate released a statement Monday criticizing the attitude of Joint Meeting Parties toward the Sa'ada fighting. They claim that the opposition parties don't support the government and its constitutional procedures to put an end to the Sa'ada sedition. The locals accused the JMP of venting anger at the security authorities that pursue hard effort with the aim of restoring stability and security to Sa'ada locals.

– Locals investigated over Sa'ada events

Feb. 20 ) The Political Security in Al-Dhale' governorate summoned three locals from Damt District and investigated them over the most recent clashes between the army and Al-Houthi followers in Sa'ada. Local sources told Al-Sahwa weekly that the political security accuses the three people of having connections with Shiite rebels. Abu Qied, one of those summoned for investigation, said they were interrogated on whether they have Shiite thoughts.

– Armed militias attack citizens

Feb. 20 ) The National Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms, known as HOOD, reported that armed militias, backed by military vehicles, attacked Al-Ja'ashen citizens, thus blocking the road leading to the district, which is controlled by Sheikh Mohammed Ahmad Mansour. The organization expressed concern about the situation in the district where Mansour's militias opened fire on innocent women and children.

– Child killed, policemen injured in shootout

Feb. 20 ) A 13-year-old boy was shot dead while two policemen were injured along with a woman in an exchange of fire with a Mahweet local, who blocked the highway leading to Sana'a and prevented cars from driving thus causing a traffic jam. Well-informed sources said the murderer fled the scene after killing the child and wounding the woman, who was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. The security authorities are waiting for the woman to recover to investigate the motives behind the shootout.

– JMP condemns Sa'ada clashes

Feb. 19 ) The Joint Meeting Parties strongly condemned the renewed armed confrontations in the northern Yemeni province of Sa'ada where Shiite rebels str engaged in guerrilla wars. The JMP released a statement saying the escalating fighting uncovered the government's wrong policy to deal with rebellion since the very beginning.

– IFJ helps YJS

Feb. 20 ) The International Federation of Journalists approved to help the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate strengthen its performance. The federation presented a project with the aim of activating communication with the YJS members, according to Dhekar Abbas, Second Deputy of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate President. She said the International Federation of Journalists project is due to train Yemeni journalists and update the YJS's website.

– Police demolish citizen's home

Feb. 20 ) Security forces demolished a citizen's home while the family members were inside, thus fatally injuring an aged woman. The Policemen took away an 8-month old baby from the house and refused to return him back until some people interceded after half an hour. In addition, the police looted the family's property with an estimated value of YR 100 thousand.

– Cultural cooperation agreement

Feb. 20 ) Al-Saeed Foundation for Science and Culture on Tuesday signed a cultural and technical cooperation agreement with Juma'a Al-Majed Center for Culture and Heritage in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement is meant to document and restore heritage through the use of modern technology. Juma'a Al-Majed Center is one the most important institutions working in the area of heritage and culture.
