Crew member of an Indian ship detained in Aden port ultimately went into a hunger strike after they failed to reach an agreement to get their salaries paid or be repatriated to their country.
In a letter of which the Yemen Times received a copy, the crew members requested from the authorities concerned to intervene to settle their issue, which has been unsolved for almost 8 months.
“Since May 3, 2001 no one has gotten his salary paid nor they could contact their families in India,” the letter added.
The crew are in a very bad situation and have doubts over their uncertainty, particularly as neither their company nor the agent is ready to solve their issue.
