Many local and international organizations continued to condemn the arrest of the two journalists, Ibrahim Hussain and Abdulrahman Muhsen by the Yemeni secret police, May 23. Reporters Without Borders, an international journalists advocacy group based in Paris, issued a statement calling for the immediate release of the two journalists.
Similarly, the Yemeni Authors Union condemned the arrest of the two journalist and demanded their immediate release. A statement of the union also denounced the censorship and the comeback to the totalitarian mentality which used to prevail in pre-1990 Yemen.
The statement also called international human rights organizations and press freedom groups to speak out against these inhuman acts.
