The Prime Minister, Dr. Abdul-Karim Al-Iryani, who heads the national team on Yemen’s dispute with Eritrea over the Hunaish archipelago, prepares to leave for London shortly.
The Yemeni and Eritrean sides had presented their case to the Court of Arbitration which was formed with the consent of the two neighbors, in order to determine who owns the islands.
The Court of Arbitration, sitting in London, had postponed passing a verdict on the case, originally scheduled for 20-22 May, 1998. The two sides now have a last minute chance for any more presentation/rebuttal.
Yemen Times learned that Dr. Iryani will also use the occasion to meet with UK officials, notably, the Foreign Minister, Mr. Robin Cook.
