Japan extends support to the culture center in Sana’a [Archives:2004/702/Local News]

A cultural grant agreement is signed today at the Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation between H.E. Mr. Ahmed Sofan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning & International Cooperation and Mr. Hisatsugu Shimizu, Charge de Affairs, Embassy of Japan in Sana'a.
A Japanese embassy press release on Jan 7 said in accordance with this agreement, the government of Japan will extent a grant up to forty-two million four hundred thousand yen (42,400,000), equivalent to three hundred ninety-six thousand two hundred sixty-one USD ($396,261), to supply the culture center in Sana'a with audio-visual equipment. The purpose of the grant is to promote cultural activities in the Republic of Yemen. The equipment under this grant will be made available during this year 2004, when Sana'a this the Arabic Cultural Capital. Many cultural events are going to take place in Sana'a this year.
