Jemstone Holds Workshop in Yemen [Archives:2000/41/Local News]
The Jemstone Network based in Jordan in collaboration with the Yemen Times is holding a 4-day workshop in Sanaa for the first time. The workshop which will finish tomorrow aims at acquiring the Yemeni journalists with new techniques and improving their skills in writing reports and investigative stories and linking Yemen media with the world. It also focuses on independent media and its pivotal role in the development process.
The workshop is funded by the Dutch Minister for Development and Cooperation and the Dutch Embassy in Sanaa.
The new Dutch ambassador, P. J. Rohnnar, kicked off the events of the workshop in which participants from all media sectors in Yemen and a few from Arab countries are taking part. Brian Whitaker of the Guardian is also present in the event.
Jemstone organizes similar workshops in different countries in the Mideast for media people.
